Eagles vs Cowboys

The Eagles are 8-3 and will have to do some soul searching after blowing a 21-point lead as Dallas kicker Brandon Aubrey nailed a 42-yard field goal as time expired to give Dallas (5-5-1) a 24-21 lead. The Cowboys will now prepare for a Thanksgiving afternoon matchup against the Chiefs, while Philadelphia will prepare for a critical Black Friday matchup against the 8-3 Chicago Bears.

The Cowboys (5-5-1) extend Prescott's home winning streak against NFC East opponents to 19 in their first game at AT&T Stadium since the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland. Philadelphia lost with a 21-point lead for the first time since 1999, when the Cardinals beat the Eagles 25-24. It was the first win for Dallas when trailing by three touchdowns since the Cowboys beat the Rams 34-31 in 2014.

With preparation for a Black Friday matchup against the surging Bears looming, we're looking at takeaways and observations from the disappointing loss.

Cooper DeJean outside CB snaps

There's been a debate about whether the Eagles should play DeJean at the outside cornerback spot, and the answer from critics and fans would be a resounding no after Sunday afternoon. Will Adoree' Jackson ruled out, DeJean took his first extensive snaps at the outside cornerback spot, and the results were different from when he's in the slot.

Already without Lane Johnson, Philadelphia could be without both safeties, and Reed Blankenship suffered a rib injury, and Andrew Mukuba was in a walking boot.

With preparation for a Black Friday matchup against the surging Bears looming, we're looking at an instant analysis of the 24-21 upset.

Eagles' second-half woes continue.

After an explosive first half, the Eagles again struggled, running 14 plays for 27 yards and four punts on their last five drives. And then it got worse. At one point in the second half, they had run 34 plays for 152 yards, 0 points, and eight wasted possessions.

A.J. Brown-DeVonta Smith vs. CeeDee Lamb George Pickens

Looking to get Brown involved early, Jalen Hurts targeted the wide receiver three times for 31 yards (10.3 avg) and a 16-yard touchdown catch on the first drive. Brown was up to 5 catches for 67 yards and 1 TD in the 1st quarter, and his five receptions are the most in the first quarter of his career. Brown had five catches for 64 yards (13.4 avg) and one touchdown. DeVonta Smith had three catches for 58 yards in the first half. Overall, Brown finished with eight catches for 110 yards and one touchdown. Smith finished with six catches for 89 yards.

The Eagles held the Cowboys to 3-5 on third downs, while Philadelphia was 4-6 on third downs and 3-3 in the red zone. Baun is the only NFL player with 80+ tackles, 3.0+ sacks, and 2+ takeaways this season. Baun logged eight tackles in the first half, while Reed Blankenship had seven tackles and two passes defended. Overall, Baun finished with nine tackles and one pass defended. The Eagles allowed 25 first downs, 5-12 on third downs, and 348 passing yards.

At one point, the Eagles had a season-high 12 penalties. They've had nine penalties three times this season. The most they've had since 2022. The Eagles have 14 penalties. It's the most since Nick Sirianni's first game as head coach.

The Cowboys' playoff hopes remained alive with a 24-21 victory over the Eagles on Sunday.

The Cowboys, who lost to the Eagles in the season opener, improved to 5-5-1, while Philadelphia dropped to 8-3.The Eagles scored touchdowns on their first three drives and then did next to nothing the rest of the game. In their final seven possessions, not counting a kneel down to end the half, the Eagles punted five times, fumbled once and missed a 56-yard field goal. They gained only 107 yards in those seven possessions after picking up 192 on their first three. The Eagles had 14 penalties for 96 yards, two turnovers and went 5-for-12 on third down for the game.Their missteps and offensive inefficiency the final three quarters allowed Dallas to rally from down 21-0 to tie it.The performance is tied for the biggest comeback in Cowboys franchise history, with this being the fourth time it's happened. The Cowboys had a prime opportunity for their first lead with 5:09 left when Xavier Gipson, for some reason, fielded a punt at his own 2. He ran it back to the 12, where he was crushed by Markquese Bell and Alijah Clark, knocking the ball loose. Trent Sieg recovered for Dallas.

That gave the Cowboys first-and-goal at the 8. They got nothing out of it.

Javonte Williams ran for 6 and Dak Prescott for 1, setting up third-and-goal from the 1. Prescott twice threw incomplete passes, including a ball that hit CeeDee Lamb in the stomach on third down.

Alas, the Cowboys got the ball back and cashed in, driving 49 yards in eight plays to set up Brandon Aubrey's 42-yard field goal on the final play.

Dak Prescott, who became the team's career passing yards leader on Sunday, went 23-of-36 for 354 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed twice, scoring an 8-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. George Pickens caught nine passes for 146 yards and a touchdown, and CeeDee Lamb added four receptions for 75 yards.

Did Tom Brady make the biggest broadcasting blunder at the Eagles vs. Cowboys game? In a clip from the game, Brady was heard mispronouncing offensive lineman Landon Dickerson’s name, even though he was not playing the Week 12 matchup.

He said “nicker” while explaining a play. However, the word sounded like a racial slur to many. While it was accidental and he quickly corrected himself, the video went viral.

Just when it looked like the Philadelphia Eagles were going to coast to a dominant win against the Dallas Cowboys on the road, their 21-0 lead vaporized into nothing after they took their foot off the gas. A few Dak Prescott big plays later led to Dallas squeezing out a 24-21 victory. The Eagles may have only dropped to 8-3 on the season, but in an NFC that is as deep as it has been in years, every win and loss is going to have some sort of meaningful impact on the standings. Philly's loss makes it much harder for them to beat out the competition and earn the No. 1 seed.

The Eagles have a very deep roster, championship experience, and a ferocious defense on their side. However, the loss to Dallas illustrated many of the same offensive and secondary problems that have prevented the Eagles from replicating last year's dominant run.

If the season ended right now, Philly would have a duel against Kyle Shanahan, Brock Purdy, and the San Francisco 49ers on tap. However, the NFC Championship rematch may not to come to fruition if the 49ers fall against the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football.

The Eagles will have a chance to impact the standings on a short week, as their Black Friday matchup against Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears is sure to have some long-lasting implications for the conference as a whole. An Eagles win could help them in their push to reclaim the No. 1 seed.

While it seems like the Eagles still have a very comfortable chance to take home the NFC East crown, their poor play in recent weeks combined with Dallas' recent hot streak has put Nick Sirianni's team in a position where they don't have the same invincibility they had in 2025.
